What to expect:
The initial visit will consisit of the chiropractor asking questions regarding your medical history with an emphasis on the current complaint. After the history the chiropractor will conduct a physical examination that is used to “rule in” or “rule out” certain causes for the current cause of pain.
Once the history and physical have been performed the chiropractor will discuss the types of treatments that can be used to help with presenting injury. Each treatment plan is designed specifically for each patient. Each treatment plan is designed to increase range of motion and reduced pain.
Each treatment will consist of one or all of the following: chiropractic adjustments, ultrasound, exercises and stretches. Chiropractic adjustments are the “bare bones” of chiropractic. It involves a low amplitude movement to the joints of the spine or extremities. The adjustment helps to increase the motion and function of the bodies joint complexes. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves that penetrates the tissues of the body causing an increase of blood flow which helps to decrease the overall healing time. Exercises and stretches will be prescribed which focus on the area of injury.
Occasionally spinal pain can be caused by an improper gait. Using the GaitScan we can analyze and determine whether or not Custom Orthotics are required in order to properly treat the area of pain.
FUNCTIONAL ABILITIES EVALUATION
Our clinic can also perform Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE) which can be used to determine your baseline strength and range of motion levels. These levels can be rechecked at any time to determine if your strength or ranges of motion have changed due to treatment or workout regime. FAE’s can also be used to determine if a person is able to return to work.
